Maria McDonald
Maria grew up in Lehigh Valley, PA, and currently lives in Lyons, CO. She has spent the past 3.5 years living in the Boulder area, and spends her free time exploring Colorado’s beautiful hiking and running trails, camping/off-roading, and snowboarding with her partner and pup. Maria has been coaching field hockey to various age groups since age 18, including competitive club teams, private lessons, collegiate camps, and more.
Maria holds a BS from Georgetown University, where she played 4 years of NCAA D1 Field Hockey in the Big East Conference. She specializes in the midfield position but is comfortable as a full-field player. She grew up playing field hockey for Southern Lehigh High School, where she captained her team and won district championships and made state tournament appearances. She was a multi-sport athlete between field hockey, track and field, and basketball. She also played club field hockey for WC Eagles all through high school. Maria also holds a Masters degree from University of Colorado Boulder. Her professional career is dedicated to business sustainability and the outdoor industry.
Maria is thrilled to be coaching with the Colorado Bears and to help to grow the game that gave her so much in terms of personal and professional development. She is passionate about using sports and athletics as a tool to develop well-rounded, confident players and people. She focuses on progress and positivity over perfection in her coaching style.
