Overview
The Colorado Bears Field Hockey Club - Denver Site welcomes over 100 middle school players each year, offering opportunities to develop their skills throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Whether you're new to field hockey or looking to take your game to the next level, we have a program for you!
Looking for more competition? If you’re ready to take the next step, consider trying out for one of our Travel Teams, which offer the highest-level competition, elite training, and the opportunity to travel around the country competing against other out of state club teams.

Interscholastic Middle School League (Sept-Oct 2026)
This program is intended for athletes who do not have a field hockey team at their middle school. It focuses on building the fundamental skills of field hockey including passing & receiving, dribbling, first touch, press, outlet, shooting, defensive skills & game play.
Players practice 1-2 times per week and usually have 1 game per week throughout the season, plus an end of season Playday (a round robin tournament of 7v7 small sided game play).
Open to all skill levels, no experience required! Players will sign up for teams based on their grade and experience level. See below:
- Navy Bears Team: ALL 6th graders & 7th grade beginners
- Gold Bears Team: ALL 8th graders & 7th grade intermediate/ advanced players

Early Bird: $699 + transaction fees (until July 5)
Regular: $750 + transaction fees (until August 2)

Practice Schedule
Mondays & Thursdays @ CA (Newton Turf) from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM (with one additional practice on Thursday, September 4th)
Dates: 9/3, 9/10, 9/14, 9/17, 9/21, 9/24, 9/28, 10/1, 10/5, 10/8, 10/19, 10/22 (no practice on 10/12 and 10/15)

Games
Games are scheduled against other middle school teams in the Denver area, including St. Mary’s Academy, Graland Country Day School, Colorado Academy, Kent Denver, and the Colorado Bears Boulder Middle School Team(s) and the Bears U12 Travel Team. Most games will be on Wednesdays, usually at 4:30pm or 5:30pm.
Fall Fest Playday
The Fall Fest Playday will take place on Oct 25, 2026 from ~9am-1pm @ East Boulder Community Park Turf. This will be a fun 7v7 round robin style mini tournament. Please mark your calendars, you won't want to miss this!
U14 Travel Team
We are currently accepting players for our U14 travel team for the upcoming Indoor Winter Season: November 2026 - end of February 2027.
Who Might Be a Good Fit?
If your child has participated in one of our rec programs and you’ve noticed they pick up skills quickly, are athletic and enjoy learning, play other sports, and thrive on challenge, then our U14 Travel Team may be a great next step.
While some players may already have several years of experience and more advanced skills, that is not a requirement. At these ages, players tend to improve rapidly with strong coaching and a positive, competitive environment.

Youth Winter League (Nov-Dec 2026 & Jan-Feb 2027)
Our Youth Winter League is the perfect opportunity for both new and returning players. Beginners will build a strong foundation by learning the core skills of field hockey, while experienced players will continue to develop their technique, gain more touches on the ball, and compete in exciting small-sided games with friends.
Each coach-led session features a skills warm-up, proven teaching progressions, structured game play, and positive reinforcement to create a fun, engaging environment where athletes can learn, improve, and grow their love for the game.
