Overview
The Colorado Bears Field Hockey Club - Denver Site has a number of programs for high schoolers looking to become the best field hockey players they can be.
Travel Teams (August-June): Our most competitive program is our Travel Team(s). Travel Teams offer the highest-level competition, elite training, and opportunity to travel around the country competing against other out of state club teams. See below for the next Travel Team tryouts in June 2026.
Winter & Spring Seasons: Our Rising Stars Program consists of skills clinics in the Winter and Spring Seasons along with Playdays that are fun-filled scrimmage days where players compete against internal and local competition in small sided games. Our Rising Stars Program is focused on building the fundamental skills required to play at the next level. Winter League is also available – designed for players with prior field hockey experience who are ready for structured, competitive game play.
Adult Leagues: High school players may be invited to participate in one of our Adult Leagues. Adult Leagues run in the Winter and Summer Seasons.
Advanced Skills Training: We will once again be offering Advanced Skills Training during the Spring Season. This is for intermediate and advanced players only. These sessions provide hands-on technical training with smaller coach-to-player ratios, focusing on advanced techniques such as:
- 3D skills
- Backhands & aerials
- Specialized shooting techniques
Please see below for each program’s registration information.

Rising Stars Winter Program (Dec 2025 - Mar 2026)
We are excited to kick off our Rising Stars Program for the 2025-2026 Winter Season! The program is designed for players who want to grow their skills in a structured and positive training environment. Please review the program options before registering.
The goal of the program is to give players lots of touches on the ball and focus on fundamental skill development (think passing, receiving, block tackles, double teams, flicks on cage, etc)... and small sided games. The great thing about Indoor Field Hockey is games are limited to 5v5 so players get tons of touches on the ball. The Winter Season will also consist of one Scrimmage Day (the Holiday Jamboree) and one Playday (Polar Bear Playday) for a fun-filled day of tournament style games with prizes and podium finishes!

FAQs
Which group do I sign my daughter up for?
The High School Beginners group is for players who competed on their high school C Team this fall, or for beginners who played on a JV team that was relatively less competitive compared to other JV teams in the state. These players are still developing their skills and will focus on building strong fundamental techniques.
The High School Intermediate group is for players who competed on their JV teams this fall or were non-starting Varsity players working toward earning more meaningful minutes next season. The focus will be on improving the speed, consistency, and accuracy of fundamental skills.
The High School Advanced group is for players who start on their Varsity teams, have multiple years of field hockey experience, and are ready to train at a faster, more competitive pace. Coaches will emphasize advanced techniques, tactical game awareness, and high-level decision-making. Players in this group are expected to have a strong understanding of the rules and well-developed fundamental skills.
What team does my daughter belong to?
Once you’ve determined which skill group is the best fit for your daughter, you can register for any team within that group that still has roster spots available. We aim to keep the teams within each skill group relatively even and fair, with no major skill differences between them.
If you’re signing up with a friend, we recommend joining the same team so you can play together throughout the season.
Advanced Skills - SPRING ONLY!
Stay tuned for the Advanced Skills program details and dates for the Spring 2026 Season! Advanced Skills is a series of five, 75 minute training sessions, where players will learn technical skills like: aerials, strokes, advanced shooting techniques, backhands, 3D elimination skills, etc. This program will offer a smaller player to coaching ratio so players can be guided through learning these new technical skills. This program is for intermediate through advanced players, only.
