Overview

The Colorado Bears Field Hockey Club - Denver Site offers fun and instructional skills sessions and game days for our Elementary School players, to develop their skills throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. Whether you're new to field hockey or looking to take your game to the next level, we have a program for you/your player!

Looking for more competition? If you’re ready to take the next step, consider trying out for one of our Travel Teams, which offer the highest-level competition, elite training, and the opportunity to travel around the country competing against other out of state club teams.

Practice 2 Play Fall League (Sept - Oct 2026)

The Colorado Bears Field Hockey Club is excited for another season of our Practice 2 Play League this fall! Designed for both field players and goalkeepers, this program welcomes girls and boys in 2nd through 5th grade, and combines one practice (Thursday) and one game (Sunday) each week for the perfect balance of skill development and game experience.

The season will wrap up with the Bears Fall Fest Playday, a fun-filled day featuring mini tournament-style games, prizes, awards and many opportunities to celebrate the season with teammates and friends!

Program Details:

  • Schedule: 7 Thursday Practices; 5 League Games played on Sundays concluding with the Fall Fest Playday

  • Format:

    • Practices: development + skills session

    • Games: 6v6 games (5v5 for Cubs) using outdoor rules

  • Game Play: Two halves with a halftime break

  • Friend Requests: Players will be split up into teams by Colorado Bears staff. If you have a friend request, please include it in the registration.

The Practice 2 Play League offers an exciting way for players to build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and enjoy competitive play each week.

    • Early Bird: $499 + transaction fees (until July 5)
    • Regular: $550 + transaction fees (until August 23)

    Time: 6:00 - 7:30 PM

    Time: 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM

  • Fall Fest Playday

    The Fall Fest Playday will take place on Oct 25, 2026 from ~9am-1pm @ East Boulder Community Park Turf. This will be a fun 7v7 round robin style mini tournament with Boulder Bears, Rocky Mtn FHC and possibly other clubs.  Please mark your calendars, you won't want to miss this! 

Youth Winter League (Nov - Dec 2026)

Our Youth Winter League is the perfect opportunity for both new and returning players. Beginners will build a strong foundation by learning the core skills of field hockey, while experienced players will continue to develop their technique, gain more touches on the ball, and compete in exciting small-sided games with friends.

Each coach-led session features a skills warm-up, proven teaching progressions, structured game play, and positive reinforcement to create a fun, engaging environment where athletes can learn, improve, and grow their love for the game.

    Kindergarten–5th Grade: Open to girls and boys of all skill levels—no field hockey experience required.

2026 - 2027 U10 & U12 Travel Teams

We are currently accepting players for our U10 and U12 travel teams for the upcoming Indoor Winter Season: November 2026 - end of February 2027.

Who Might Be a Good Fit?
If your child has participated in one of our programs (Little Bears League or a Little Bears Fall/Winter/Spring season) and you’ve noticed they pick up skills quickly, are athletic and enjoy learning, play other sports, and thrive on challenge, then U10 or U12 Travel Team may be a great next step.

While some players may already have several years of experience and more advanced skills, that is not a requirement—especially at the U10 and U12 levels. At these ages, players tend to improve rapidly with strong coaching and a positive, competitive environment.

Teams are open to both boys and girls, although historically our teams have primarily consisted of girls.

U10: Birthdates August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2018
U12: Birthdates August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2016
