Emily Abed
Emily Abed is from Englewood, Colorado. Originally having a passion for soccer, she had to find a fall sport entering her 9th-grade year in order to stay in shape for soccer in the spring season. With the choice of cross country and field hockey at her fingertips, Emily decided to play field hockey (less running) and fell in love with the sport instantly. She made Varsity at Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, CO her sophomore year and continued to play for the remainder of high school. Emily won the Golden Eagle Award her sophomore year and made the All-Star Team her senior year. She went to play for the co-ed field hockey club at the University of Colorado at Boulder during her junior year of college.
Coaching has always been in Emily’s heart, starting her coaching career at her alma mater, Mountain Vista High School, co-leading the JV Girls Field Hockey team in Fall 2018. Alongside coaching that year, she also worked at USA Field Hockey as an intern – learning the coaching standards from experienced staff members. Emily came back to Mountain Vista to co-lead the JV team again in 2021.
Since 2021, Emily has played in two adult summer leagues with the Colorado Bears and loved every second of it. She and her team won the summer league in 2021, with Emily scoring the game-winning stroke! In the summer of 2023, her team went to the semifinals by being 1st in the league during the season (with Emily scoring 15 goals).
Emily is honored to be coaching with her best field hockey playmate, Amanda Forney, in the fall and winter seasons for the Intermediate Middle Schools Navy Bears. Their team went undefeated and scored a total of 4 goals while having the most fun cheering on their athletes! Emily is excited to continue coaching for the Navy Bears, helping them grow into the field hockey stars that they are!
